Hiring a postpartum doula is the best thing we did for our family when we had our second baby and we would highly recommend Kelley. We chose a package of overnight services 3 nights a week for about 4 months. Kelley’s support helped me get the rest I needed to heal post cesarean and helped my husband get the rest he needed to go back to work. Her presence allowed my family to really cherish our time during the vulnerable postpartum period.

    Kelley was:

    • highly professional, genuinely caring, knowledgeable in newborn care, trustworthy

    • very supportive of mom (me) and her needs, a good listener, encouraging especially during tough physical and emotional stress

    • supportive of dad, listening to his needs as well, as he adjusted to all the changes and re-learning baby and postpartum care

    • engaging and caring towards older sibling (5yo) who needed love and attention with new baby around and mom still recovering

    • supportive with night wakings, diaper changes, burping, swaddling

    • supportive of both breastfeeding and bottle feeding, depending on the needs of that night, bringing baby to mom and gently waking for nursing sessions

    • helpful in managing good sleep hygiene and setting a routine which supported sleeping through the night around 15 wks

    • proactive about offering help with folding laundry and washing bottles and pump parts

    • very respectful and flexible with family needs

We are so thankful for our three weeks with Kelley after our son was born! My husband and I were referred to Kelley by Montclair Baby, and we reached out to her from the hospital after our emergency cesarean birth. We had quickly realized we would need additional help returning home from the hospital with our son, and Kelley provided invaluable overnight support several nights a week for our first three weeks as new parents.

Kelley was professional, respectful and compassionate towards each one of us. She is an excellent communicator and patient teacher, and she assisted us with everything from basic baby care to sleep hygiene to feedings of all kinds. Every evening we would have a check-in about how things were going that day, including any questions we had and any updates from the pediatrician (feeding timing, amounts, etc.). And every morning Kelley provided us with a log of our son’s sleep, diapers and feedings, as well as helpful observations and tips.

Kelley’s calm and thoughtful nature put us all at ease, and my husband and I felt our son was in excellent hands. We cannot recommend Kelley enough to any growing family in need of support in the new and delicate postpartum period.
